MIT's AlterEgo 'Mind-Reading' Headset - Interfacing with Devices Through Silent Speech
AlterEgo is a wearable headset from MIT's Media Lab that lets a user silently converse with a computing device, AI assistant, application, or other people, without any audible voice or discernible movements. The wearable device captures electrical signals induced by subtle but deliberate movements of internal speech articulators, which are used when a person vocalizes internally. Aural output is received through bone-conduction earphones. Users can transmit and receive streams of information without any observable action.
