How An Engineer Carves A Pumpkin - Metal Casting
Added Oct 31, 2016 | Rate View top rated
University of Michigan engineers celebrated Halloween by metal casting a pumpkin. The ancient technique dates back thousands of years but is still used today to create new and innovative technologies, especially in aerospace and automotive industries. The Michigan engineers had fun pouring melted aluminum into the pumpkin, which then froze to its insides. Rather than just filling the inside of the pumpkin, the metal ran along the filaments and burned the filaments out, replacing the structure.
