SiN-VAPOR Scanner Sensor
Added Jan 9, 2013 | Rate View top rated
Dr. Chris Field, a research chemist with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), is part of a team that developed a novel sensor technology that could revolutionize the way we scan our surroundings. It is called the SiN-VAPOR, which stands for silicon nanowire vertical array with a porous electrode - a small sensor that fits on a microchip. The sensor is designed to detect molecules down to ten parts per billion. This technology is capable of detecting everything within its range that is in the vapor phase, and a major application would be improvised explosive device (IED) detection.
